Fit To The Core Blog
Welcome to Fit to the Core’s “Everything you ever wanted to know about fitness” blog. Everyday people are bombarded with conflicting health and fitness messages by the media. It can be overwhelming. Soon it will be a new year. Many of you are already reflecting on your accomplishments, disappointments and difficulties of 2011. You may be thinking about your New Year's Resolutions. Since many of us tend to put on a few pounds during the holiday season, you may be thinking of starting that diet in January. FTTC says don't do it! Just say no to another diet!

We all know that exercising is an excellent way to reduce and manage stress in our life. However, what some of you may not know is that exercise also creates stress. It is a good stress but, never the less, it is a stressor that causes the production of free radicals within our cells. Although the benefits of exercise are greater than the oxidative stress it creates, it is a good idea to make sure you are getting enough antioxidants in your diet to protect you against free radical damage.

Haven’t you ever heard the expression that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? It’s not going to happen.

In my last blog I talked about the 10 rules for fat loss. Today I will get into more specific foods choices—what to include in your diet and which foods to limit and/or eliminate for optimal fat loss. Remember, you can have one free day in which you can eat whatever you want.
Okay, so now you have set your SMART goals. Don’t stop there. There is more work to do. It’s easy to set goals – not so easy to stick with it and actually reach those goals. How many times have you set goals for yourself only to abandon them after only a few weeks? Some people never even get started!
